‘I said I would go anywhere and do anything.’

Brooklyn native Allegra Alcoff recently ended her service as a Peace Corps volunteer. Told she needed to gather her things from her Zambian site for a trip back to the states, Alcoff paused to think about if that was what she really wanted to do.

Brooklyn native Allegra Alcoff recently ended her service as a Peace Corps volunteer. When she was told she needed to gather her things from her Zambian site for a coronavirus-inspired return to the United States, Alcoff paused to think about if that was what she really wanted to do.

I got involved in community radio back in 1990 and later worked in public radio. I enjoy listening to people's stories. Collecting them seemed like a logical marriage of my love of audio gathering and preserving the stories of those around me.
